Have you ever heard the expression, "Barbecue or mildew?" It simply means to do something (barbecue) or do nothing (mildew).

Recently, I watched Love and Hip Hop Season 1...I was looking for some mess (LOL)! In doing so, I listened to Emily B's (the rapper Fabolous' girlfriend) and Chrissy's (the rapper Jim Jones' girlfriend) introduction. One thing that immediately stood out: they both wanted a marriage! At the time, Emily was with Fabolous for 8 years and Chrissy was with Jim for 6 years. Chrissy also wanted a child but wanted Jim to be her husband first. This show aired in 2011 and 12 years later these women are still unwed.

I point this out because as people, we allow love to keep us in situations that we should evolve from over time. Based upon social media, I don't think these women can honestly say staying with these men for nearly 2 decades was worth it; but that's just my opinion. Especially considering they never got what they wanted (marriage and a baby for Chrissy).

Barbecue this summer and for the rest of your life. Take control over your mind and heart. Settling only leaves you with "what ifs" and sometimes misery! You are deserving of having the life and relationships you expect and desire. Of course, no one person or thing is perfect but we're not staying places where we have to mostly SACRIFICE and receive the bare minimum!

Baby your peace of mind is your most valuable possession! Turn up the heat in your life. Burn bridges if you have to and build new bridges! Keep starting over until you get it right, it feels right, it is right! When you stop playing about you, people will stop playing with you!

Until Next Time,
