I just completed book 2 of the trilogy, The HouseMaid by Frieda McFadden
Giving something without giving it all away....
Book 1: The HouseMaid by Freida McFadden
Meet my girl Millie. She’s a young woman just trying to get her life back on track! After struggling on the job hunt, sis decides to pivot and go into the hospitality field. That’s how she ends up interviewing for a live-in housemaid position with the Winchesters—a rich, picture-perfect family living in a mansion straight out of a magazine.
From the moment Millie walks into the Winchester home, she’s gagged! It’s stunning. And then in walks Nina Winchester—the wife. She’s beautiful, well-put-together, with the perfect shade of blonde hair. Basically a real-life Stepford wife. Millie is intrigued, to say the least.
During the interview, Nina gives Millie a tour of the house—including the room she’d be staying in if hired. And baby, when Millie steps into that broom closet of a room in the attic?! She’s insulted. How are you living in a mansion but offering your maid a glorified shoebox?! But... Millie is homeless, living out of her car, broke, and desperate. So she swallows her pride, ignores the eerie vibes, and accepts the job.
Fast forward—Millie gets to work. And that’s when things get weird. Nina? A certified bitch. A Lunatic quite frankly. Their daughter, Cecilia? Straight outta Children of the Corn. But Andrew? Andrew Winchester? Whew. He’s handsome, charming, kind—basically Nina’s polar opposite. So WTF does Andrew sees in Nina?! Y’all...
Millie fucked that woman’s husband.
And from there? All hell breaks loose.
There were signs (clock it). Enzo, the Italian gardener, even tried to subtly warn Millie to stay away from Andrew. But did she listen? No ma’am. And while Nina thought she had a trick for Millie... she had no idea Millie had a trick for her! Yes, Millie has a criminal record—but Nina didn’t know what kind of criminal Millie really was.
This book was wild from start to finish. Twists, turns, and more than a few jaw-dropping moments. If you love drama, deception, and a messy maid with secrets of her own? This one’s for you.
p.s this will be released as a movie by the end of 2025
Book 2: The Housemaid Secrets by Freida McFadden
You never win when you're playing dirty! Spoiler alert: things with Andrew did not end how Millie expected. Moral of the story? Close your legs to married men!
Now Millie’s trying to move on. She's out of work, low on funds, and barely hanging on in her tiny New York apartment—which is giving more the ghetto than luxury, but hey, it’s hers. She’s back in school for social work, got herself a solid man (shoutout to Brock, the attorney!), and she’s finally feeling free.
Then she lands a job interview with the Duncans—a fancy NYC family needing a maid. But from day one, things feel off. Their condo is pristine—like no one lives there. She only speaks to Mr. Duncan, and the wife, Wendy? Always “sick,” always locked away in the guest room. Strange, but the rent is due and Millie’s broke, so she rolls with it.
Until one day she hears crying behind that locked door. Against Mr. Duncan’s orders, Millie investigates... and discovers he’s been kicking his wife's ass! Now sis is in full “super save-a-hoe” mode.
Millie ain't with the bullshit. Another wild ride with twists, secrets, and a maid who refuses to mind her business—for all the right reasons.
I'm going to take a short break from this trilogy but I'll update book 3 here! Let me know if you start this series.
Book 3: The Housemaid Is Watching by: Frieda McFadden
This book fast-forwards about 12 years. Millie is now married with children. This time, she’s not the housemaid—she hasa housemaid. Hoping for a more relaxed life, she moves to the suburbs of Long Island, but quickly regrets leaving the Bronx once she realizes how unfriendly her neighbors are.
One neighbor in particular, Suzzette Lowell, is especially disrespectful. She openly flirts with Millie’s husband right in front of both Millie and her own husband. Millie has never felt insecure around other women, nor has she ever been the jealous type—but Suzzette’s behavior makes her start questioning her husband’s fidelity.
One day, Millie has had enough of her husband constantly “helping” Suzzette with her landscaping. She walks next door and lets herself into Suzzette’s house.
Surprise, surprise—Millie finds Suzzette’s husband, Mr. Lowell, dead with his throat slashed open! Horrified, she rushes out and returns to her own home.
But unfortunately for Millie… someone is always watching.
Overall, I really enjoyed this trilogy! I thought it would be the same story told three different ways, but the author delivered some great plot twists I can truly appreciate. If you’ve read it, circle back—let’s discuss!
Until Next Time,
