Book Review: The Cartel Series (Books 1–7)

The Diamond family is the heart of The Cartel Series—a powerful Miami drug dynasty built on money, loyalty, and bloodshed. Led by ruthless ambition, the family navigates love, betrayal, and survival as they fight to maintain control of their empire. Across the series, the Diamonds show how the drug game rewards power in the moment but ultimately demands everything in return.

Overall, I enjoyed The Cartel Series by Ashley and JaQuavis—but let me be honest, this series takes you on an emotional rollercoaster through the drug game, and by the end, you’ll need a breather.

Book 1 was an undeniable attention grabber. It introduced readers to the gritty, dangerous world of Miami drug lords, loyalty, power, and betrayal. The pacing was fast, the drama was nonstop, and it set the tone for everything that followed. This is the book that hooks you and makes it impossible to stop reading.

Book 2? I was ready to fight. The chaos escalates, trust is tested, and the betrayals hit harder. Emotions are high, stakes are higher, and at this point, you’re fully invested—even if you’re stressed while turning the pages.

Books 3 and 4 were where the series started to lose me a bit. There was a lot of resurrecting going on—characters returning in ways that stretched believability. While the drama stayed entertaining, these middle books felt less grounded and more soap-opera-meets-street-fiction. Still readable, but definitely my least favorite part of the series.

By Book 6, the series found its footing again—and this one was hands down my favorite.

The storytelling felt sharper, the emotional depth hit harder, and the consequences finally started to feel real. This book reminded me why I committed to the series in the first place.

Then came Book 7, and whew… this one broke my heart. The ending delivered emotional damage in the best and worst way. Loss, reflection, and the long-term cost of the drug game are front and center. It’s heavy, sobering, and lingers long after you finish the last page.

By the time I closed the final book, one thing was clear:I need a break from the drug game.

Happy Reading,
